Plenty more people were equally flabbergasted by Claire's discovery. Normally, a basket is taken to church and the eggs are “blessed” at mass. I have always worked seasonally, so have spent a lot of down time at home planning and just being home. This is sort of the opening season for good weather, day trips to the sea and picnics. Lent, the 40 days before Easter, took on a whole new meaning.In Italian Lent is called Quaressima. Originally the Quaratine, was the 40 day period a boat would go into isolation when arriving into a port, when someone was ill, so as to not spread the illness. You have to give the set designers credit for taking the theme and running with it. It's easy to get cynical about the over-decorating, but that "too-muchness" is what makes us love Home Alone. The over-the-top physical comedy, the elaborate traps, the super sweet/cheesy ending, the creepy old guy with a shovel who turns out not to be creepy at all. All of these ingredients justify the uber-Christmas design of Kevin's house in the movie. The whole place just oozes a Christmas aesthetic and, if I'm being quite frank, I feel pretty dumb not picking up on this sooner. There's red and green candles, a green plant standing right next to this vibrant red wallpaper. You can't forget the green walls behind Kevin in this shot, either. Something that Claire Reilly, senior editor at CNET, discovered while viewing the film. She even provided some stills of the interior of Kevin's home to show that whoever designed the place went above-and-beyond for Christmas decorations. Like any film that becomes an indelible part of our collective social consciousness, Home Alone's been analyzed and commented on countless times.
Links to other movies, subtle foreshadowing and even a half-decent explanation for how the family forgot about Kevin are some of the nuggets waiting to be uncovered. While pulling presents from his magical sack for weapons, Santa finds a copy of Die Hard on Blu-ray, making references to the iconic action film set during the holiday season even more explicit. Just like in Die Hard, Santa also takes one of the walkie-talkies from a bad guy he has dispatched. Along with talking to head intruder Jimmy Martinez the same way McClane taunted Hans Gruber in Die Hard, Santa also communicates with the youngest member of the Lightstone family, Trudy . This is similar to the radio used to communicate with Sergeant Al Powell in Die Hard.

When Kevin first enters the hotel he asks a man where the lobby is. I bet our parents got a kick out of that when they took us to see this movie.
On the other hand, it sets a wonderful precedent–that something this intricately detailed and multi-pieced can be mainstream accessible. And by that thinking, LEGO should feel encouraged to release more sets like this in the months and years ahead. LEGO's latest Ideas set is Home Alone, a 3955-piece celebration of the 1990 Christmas classic starring Macaulay Culkin. There are 24 separate phases to the build, which are communicated visually and non-verbally via a thick instruction booklet. There are two pages of stickers to add additional, graphic detail; the printed elements on the bricks themselves are few and far between.
Included in the shoutout were Germany, Italy, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Spain and the Netherlands. Holiday favorite A Christmas Story is about a series of events in the life of nine-year-old Ralphie Parker leading up to Christmas. Along with dealing with a troublesome younger brother and strict father, Ralphie and his friends are tormented by two neighborhood bullies named Grover Dill and Scut Farkus throughout A Christmas Story. There is a subtle reference to this in Violent Night when the names Farkus and Dill are briefly seen on the side of a catering van.
Though the Easter eggs in the movie are a nice touch, it was probably wise for Macaulay Culkin not to return to the role of Kevin McCallister on this occasion. Leaving Kevin McCallister home alone to defend against robbers gave him firsthand experience of home defense. It's both logical and a fun revelation that he's translated this particular set of skills to building a home security business. While Kevin's professional security system does not include flying paint cans, nails in stairs or red-hot door handles, Max is able to supplement it with his own unique set of boobytraps.
We see Buzz's tarantula out of its cage, clinging to the wall opposite the stairs. We see the "AHHHHH!!!" aftershave in the soapdish above the bathroom sink. There's a small TV in the kitchen, and it's playing Angels with Filthy Souls, the movie-within-a-movie that Kevin used to trick the pizza delivery boy and the Wet Bandits into thinking he wasn't alone. There are five LEGO minifigures included in the build–Kevin McCallister, Harry, Marv, Kevin's Mom, and Old Man Marley–and each of them has accessories. Kevin has a bowl of chocolate ice cream, a scarf and hat for when he goes outside, and a sled he can use to slide down the stairs.
